Safety First

Always disconnect the vehicle battery before working on electrical components. Allow the engine to cool completely before touching any parts under the hood. If you're not comfortable with DIY installation, please seek professional help.

LED Headlight Bulb Installation

Easy15-30 minutes

Tools Required

  • Screwdriver (may be required)
  • Clean cloth or gloves

Always disconnect the battery before installation if working near airbag sensors.

Installation Steps

  1. 1Turn off your vehicle and allow the engine to cool down completely
  2. 2Open the hood and locate the headlight assembly - look for the back of the headlight housing
  3. 3Disconnect the electrical power connector from the existing halogen bulb
  4. 4Remove the dust cover by twisting counterclockwise (rubber) or unclipping (plastic)
  5. 5Release the bulb retaining clip or twist lock and carefully remove the old bulb
  6. 6Without touching the LED chips, install the new LED bulb ensuring the alignment tabs match
  7. 7Secure the bulb with the retaining clip or twist lock mechanism
  8. 8Reinstall the dust cover - you may need to modify it for fan-cooled LED bulbs
  9. 9Reconnect the power connector firmly until it clicks
  10. 10Test both low and high beam functions before closing the hood

Pro Tips

  • Never touch the LED chips with bare hands - oils can reduce performance
  • Ensure the bulb is properly seated to prevent flickering
  • Some vehicles require CANBUS decoders - our SUPER CANBUS series includes built-in decoders
  • If the dust cover doesn't fit, use the included universal rubber cover or cut an opening
  • After installation, check beam alignment and adjust if needed

CANBUS LED Installation (European Vehicles)

Some BMW/Mercedes vehicles require coding with diagnostic tools to accept LED bulbs.

Installation Steps

  1. 1Identify if your vehicle uses CANBUS - most BMW, Mercedes, Audi, VW, and Volvo vehicles do
  2. 2Turn off the vehicle and all electrical systems
  3. 3Follow standard LED bulb installation steps
  4. 4For our SUPER CANBUS series: Simply plug and play - no additional decoder needed
  5. 5For standard LEDs: Install the included CANBUS decoder inline with the power connector
  6. 6Connect decoder's input to vehicle wiring, output to LED bulb
  7. 7Secure the decoder away from heat sources using included zip ties
  8. 8Turn on the vehicle and test all light functions
  9. 9Check dashboard for any warning lights or error codes
  10. 10Drive the vehicle to verify no errors appear after several on/off cycles

  • Some vehicles may need the headlight system to be 'reset' via diagnostic tool

Bi-LED Projector Lens Retrofit

  • Sealant
  • Wire crimpers
  • Dremel (optional)

This installation modifies your headlight assembly. Not recommended for beginners. Consider professional installation.

Installation Steps

  1. 1Remove the headlight assembly from the vehicle
  2. 2Carefully preheat oven to 100°C (212°F) or use heat gun to soften headlight sealant
  3. 3Place headlight in oven for 15-20 minutes until sealant is soft
  4. 4Using gloves, carefully pry apart the lens from the housing - work slowly
  5. 5Remove the original reflector bowl and halogen projector (if applicable)
  6. 6Test fit the new Bi-LED projector in the housing
  7. 7Fabricate or install the mounting bracket for the new projector
  8. 8Secure the projector using the bracket and included hardware
  9. 9Route wiring through the housing - drill a small hole if necessary
  10. 10Connect to vehicle wiring: High beam, Low beam, and Ground
  11. 11Clean both lens and housing thoroughly before reassembly
  12. 12Apply new butyl sealant around the housing perimeter
  13. 13Press lens firmly onto housing and clamp until sealed. Reinstall headlight assembly and aim the beam using adjustment screws

  • Practice on a spare headlight if available
  • Take photos during disassembly to remember wire locations
  • Don't overheat the headlight - plastics can warp
  • Use quality butyl sealant to prevent moisture ingress
  • After installation, check for condensation after a few days

LED Fog Light Installation

  • Jack and jack stands (for some vehicles)
  • Screwdriver

Installation Steps

  1. 1Locate fog light access - usually from under front bumper or wheel well
  2. 2If necessary, safely raise vehicle and secure on jack stands
  3. 3Disconnect the fog light electrical connector
  4. 4Remove the fog light bulb by twisting counterclockwise (1/4 turn)
  5. 5Insert new LED fog light bulb and twist clockwise to lock
  6. 6Reconnect the electrical connector
  7. 7Test fog lights before lowering vehicle
  8. 8Lower vehicle and verify operation once more

Pro Tips

  • Yellow (3000K) fog lights cut through fog and rain better than white
  • 6000K white fog lights provide a matched look with LED headlights
  • Check beam pattern - fog lights should illuminate the road surface, not straight ahead
  • Some fog lights require CANBUS decoders - check your vehicle specifications

LED Interior Light Installation

  • Plastic pry tool or flathead screwdriver wrapped in cloth

Installation Steps

  1. 1Identify which interior lights you want to replace (dome, map, trunk, etc.)
  2. 2Use a plastic pry tool to gently remove the light cover/lens
  3. 3Remove the old bulb - note the polarity (+ and - orientation)
  4. 4Install the new LED bulb with correct polarity
  5. 5If light doesn't work, flip the bulb 180° to correct polarity
  6. 6Snap the lens cover back into place
  7. 7Test the light function using door switches or controls

Pro Tips

  • LED interior lights are polarity sensitive - if it doesn't light up, just flip it
  • Start with dome and map lights for the biggest visual impact
  • Match color temperature across all interior lights for consistent appearance
  • Use a trim removal tool to avoid scratching plastic covers

LED Work Light / Light Bar Installation

  • Zip ties
  • Wrench set

High-power light bars draw significant current. Use properly rated wire gauge and fuses to prevent fire hazards.

Installation Steps

  1. 1Plan mounting location ensuring clear forward view and legal compliance
  2. 2Mark drill holes using mounting bracket as template
  3. 3Drill mounting holes and install rubber grommets to prevent water ingress
  4. 4Attach mounting brackets to vehicle using provided hardware
  5. 5Mount the light bar onto brackets - don't fully tighten yet
  6. 6Plan wiring route from lights through firewall to battery
  7. 7Install the relay near the battery - connect 30 to battery positive
  8. 8Connect wire from relay terminal 87 to the light bar positive
  9. 9Connect light bar negative to good chassis ground
  10. 10Route trigger wire from relay terminal 86 through firewall
  11. 11Install switch in desired location inside cabin
  12. 12Connect switch between relay terminal 86 and ground (through terminal 85)
  13. 13Install appropriate fuse (typically 30-40A for large light bars)
  14. 14Test all functions and adjust light bar aim
  15. 15Secure all wiring with zip ties away from heat and moving parts

  • Always use a relay for lights over 30W - never wire directly through a switch
  • Use marine-grade heat shrink tubing at all outdoor connections
  • Consider adding a circuit breaker instead of fuse for easier reset
  • Point light bars slightly downward to avoid blinding other drivers
  • Check local regulations - some areas prohibit forward-facing light bars on public roads

Troubleshooting Guide

LED bulb flickering

Possible Causes:

  • Poor connection
  • Incompatible dimming
  • CANBUS error
  • Defective bulb

Solutions:

  • Check and reseat all connections
  • Install a CANBUS decoder/anti-flicker module
  • Upgrade to SUPER CANBUS series for your vehicle
  • Test with a different bulb to rule out defect

Dashboard error light or 'Bulb Out' warning

Possible Causes:

  • Vehicle CANBUS system detecting low current draw

Solutions:

  • Install CANBUS decoder/resistor module
  • Upgrade to SUPER CANBUS series with built-in decoder
  • Some vehicles require dealer coding to disable bulb monitoring

LED not working at all

Possible Causes:

  • Wrong polarity
  • Blown fuse
  • Bad connection
  • Defective bulb

Solutions:

  • Try flipping the bulb 180° (LEDs are polarity sensitive)
  • Check vehicle fuse for headlight circuit
  • Verify power is reaching the connector with multimeter
  • Test bulb directly on 12V power source

Poor beam pattern or glare

Possible Causes:

  • Incorrect bulb positioning
  • Wrong bulb type
  • Misaligned headlights

Solutions:

  • Ensure LED chip is positioned same as halogen filament (usually horizontal)
  • Verify correct bulb type for your vehicle (H7, H11, 9005, etc.)
  • Adjust headlight aim using built-in adjustment screws
  • Consider projector lens retrofit for best results

LED overheating or short lifespan

Possible Causes:

  • Poor ventilation
  • Excessive ambient temperature
  • Defective thermal management

Solutions:

  • Ensure cooling fan (if equipped) has clearance to spin freely
  • Remove dust cover or use vented cover for better airflow
  • Check that heat sink is not in contact with other components
  • Contact support if bulb fails prematurely within warranty
